This Switch is used for Winding Drum Elevators and Hoists. This Switch is designed to detect Slack or Broken Cable. You must insert a 1/2” rod into each end of the device long enough to span the area of the cable drum.
When slack on the cable or some other action pushes either lever down the heavy duty electrical contact opens requiring that it be manually reset before the elevator can move again. This is wired in to the safety circuit to shut the elevator motor down in the event the elevator car stops and the cable that winds around the drum spools off of it.
