A Little History.

Carl John Anderson

(Carl John) C.J. Anderson himself from 1915

C.J. Anderson & Company was founded in 1910 by Carl John Anderson and his two brothers. The Andersons immigrated from Sweden to Chicago U.S.A. in 1886, driven by ambition to seek broader opportunities for personal achievement. The business began at 312 Ontario Street, Chicago U.S.A., where for the first five years, the only employees were the three Anderson brothers. In 1915, the company moved to 212–222 West Hubbard Street, Chicago U.S.A. in the River North neighborhood and continued manufacturing switches, interlocks, and control systems for the growing elevator industry.

In 1984, Milton Sybert purchased the company. Within the first year, he and his wife Dorothy relocated the business—and its dedicated crew—to Harwood Heights, Illinois U.S.A., where it remains today. Years later, their son Tom Sybert joined full-time, followed by Tom's children: Zackary, Owen, and Quinn. Many of the current employees have worked at C.J. Anderson & Company long enough to see the Sybert grandchildren grow up.

The original Ontario Street location is now a parking garage and the Hubbard Street location is now a multi-tenant commerical building. Today, 115 years since its founding, C.J. Anderson & Company continues helping—one floor at a time.
