This device mounts on top of the elevator and when installed and wired correctly will allow the elevator to run with when the emergency escape hatch is closed and prevent it from running when the escape hatch is open. Because all elevator emergency escape switch hatches can vary from elevator to elevator, spacers, brackets may need to be made in the field to accommodate the various site specific requirements you may run into.
