American Made…..since 1910

PROVIDING JOBS FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS

Buying American-made products creates jobs for current and future generations. When you buy American-made products, you’re pouring your money into an American manufacturing company. As money comes in and the demand grows, the manufacturing company will expand. When an American manufacturing company expands, they hire American construction crews and American accounting companies. This growth also creates more job opportunities within their factories. According to the Alliance for American Manufacturing, “if everyone in the country spent $64 of their yearly shopping budget on American-made products, it would support 200,000 factory jobs in the U.S.

BOOSTS THE ECONOMY & AMERICAN INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

American manufacturing growth creates more opportunities for investment and finance which benefits the economy. According to the Alliance for American Manufacturing, “every $1 invested in U.S. manufacturing generates $1.81 in economic activity.”

Equipment Manufactured Outside The US doesn’t comply with American Codes.

Not complying with American and third party US and Canadian codes means if you’re installing an imported elevator product it doesn’t meet the codes required in North America which are much different than those in Europe and South East Asia. A17.1 and EN81 are not nor will they ever be equal as a CE rating to EN81 doesn’t carry the same weight as a UL/CSA third party testing listing.

OUR GOVERNMENT CANNOT CONTROL FOREIGN LABOR STANDARDS

The American government only controls American manufacturing companies. Therefore, they cannot ensure fair wages and safe working environment for those manufacturing products overseas.

In third world countries, sweatshops run rampant. A 2006 report from the Institute for Global Labor and Human Rights uncovered torturous child labor at a factory in Bangladesh which produced clothing sold by Walmart and JC Penney. “In overseas sweatshops, 75% of the price of a garment is profit for the manufacturer and retailer,” according to the Alliance for American Manufacturing. However, the already unfair, harsh conditions of foreign sweatshops can quickly become deadly. An example of this would be the 2013 garment factory collapse in Bangladesh that claimed the lives of over 1,000 employees.

When you buy foreign products, you are supporting these horrendous violations of even the most basic human rights that we, as Americans, stand and fight for.

HEALTH

The lack of regulations for overseas production affects Americans as well. In a 2007 article from the New York Times, it was reported that many Chinese toys had been recalled. Some were recalled for being choking hazards. Others were recalled because of the high amounts of chemicals, such as lead paint and kerosene, that were making American children sick. The lack of regulations should be very sickening to every American.

BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

When you invest in American-made products, you are investing in a cleaner, brighter future for the environment. Products made overseas have a higher carbon footprint than American-made products and have to be transported thousands of miles, burning fossil fuels and polluting the air with toxic gases the whole journey.

In 2014, a paper written by a team of Chinese researches about air pollution in China was published in the Journal of the National Academy of Sciences. This paper concluded that a large majority of China’s air pollution is the result of their growth as a large net exporter. The combustion of fossil fuels used in the manufacturing of these exports has contributed to a “global increase in emissions of carbon dioxide.” According to the Alliance for American Manufacturing, “as much as 25% of the air pollution over LA can be traced back to China.

GUARANTEED QUALITY OF GOODS

When you hear American-made, what other words come to mind? According to the Alliance for American Manufacturing, “Given the choice, 78% of Americans would buy an American-made product over an identical product made overseas, and 98% of Americans have a favorable view of American-made products.” The mark “Made in the U.S.A.” gives us a certain amount of assurance when purchasing a product, and there is a reason for this.

OUTSOURCED MANUFACTURING PLANTS RARELY EVER RETURN TO THE U.S.

It is an unspoken truth that once a product has been outsourced to a foreign country, it is highly unlikely that it will ever be manufactured in the U.S. again. This means than an entire avenue of potential business in the U.S. has vanished, and this happens very often.

PROMOTES INDEPENDENCE

America is a proud nation. We are the home of the brave and the free. We fought for our independence and won, and we are still revolutionizing the world as we know it. However, our great country, which once was a powerhouse in the global market, now relies on exports from foreign countries to survive. Claiming to be a strong, independent nation while relying on foreign countries, is somewhat counter-intuitive. If we support American manufacturing, we can reduce the trade deficit and become a proud and independent nation once again.

As our country continues to see issues with supply chains as it relates to importing crap from china please consider supporting companies that build and manufacture elevator equipment that’s made by Americans in the good U.S.A. Look for Made in the U.S.A. items whenever you’re purchasing elevator equipment. Help America be as strong as it can be!
