Old Elevator Controller Parts
We still offer many contacts for our older controllers, one of which, Type AH and AJ are cast and need to be machined out using jigs that date back to 1929. Still in impeccable condition the attached photos give you an idea of what they look like and their purpose. Which is to ensure the holes are always the same, for mounting so pieces can be interchanged easily. The bulletin shown below is one our customer had sent us to help get replacement parts for his customers controller. Save your old catalogs as they may come in handy some day! We’ve got ours available online, for free and for download a few which date way back.
Realize that on any older controller one of the issues with them not working as reliably as they should occurs when the contacts wear out which happens over time. As the material is lost on both copper and carbon contacts the distance increases and can cause pins and pivot points to wear out. C.J. Anderson contacts are still available. Remember that with older equipment you truly require more maintenance as there are more moving parts than on a newer solid state elevator. If you’re not currently having maintenance performed on your older elevator consider it. The investment you make now will save you in the end.
And like with any doctor, if your told that you parts aren’t available anymore for your elevator and the only option is for a complete upgrade, get a second opinion. That may be the case however there are companies out there that specialize in locating parts for older equipment for old elevator systems like, Parts Specialists out of Posen, IL.
